ProspectingSome interesting things have happened this past weekend in the minor leagues.  Billy Butler has continued to stay hot, and Felix Pie has already matched his career high in home runs with 8 and its only May! Kendry Morales finally made his pro debut, and opened it up with a splash as he hit a home run in his first at bat.
 
Zach Duke - SP (Pit, AAA) Zach continues to show he's a legit top prospect as he went 8.1 IP on Wednesday night and only gave up one run, and one walk with five strikeouts to up his season record to 7-2. 
 
Fernando Cabrera - RP (Cle, AAA): Making a case to be the tribe's closer of 2006, Fernando has done an admirable job thus far this season in AAA Buffalo.  In 23 IP,  he has recorded a 28/3 K/BB ratio.  He has also compiled a 4-0 record with a 1.17 ERA.   
 
A. Laroche - SS/3B (LAD, High A): He has hit 4 home runs in his last three games, giving him 14 for the season.  Most don't record 14 home runs in a season in the pitcher's friendly Florida State League so its easy to say that Laroche is off to a great start of the year.  He is also hitting .354, so its not that he's just an all or nothing hitter as he has only struck out 27 times with 10 walks.  He also has 11 doubles and a triple to complete his statistics. 
 
What has been a fun series to watch this weekend, has been the Charlotte Nights @ the Buffalo Bisons.  The series has split its first two games with Charlotte winning the first game 2-1, and Buffalo winning on Sunday night 12-4.  The series continues monday at Dunn Tire park in Buffalo where "Juan Gone" and the "Big Hurt" are expected to square off. 
 
Look for my article next Sunday as I will have a full week to go over in the minors.  I will also have a full report on who won the battle between the two sluggers on their rehab assignments.  Both of which are looking to make it back to the show sometime in early June.
