Hey you guys..i'm in another fantasy league and the commishes policy is you get the best available pick by when you join...and I'v joined 4th..the posistions available is #1 and #5 and I get to pick where to draft from...which draft slot is better to draft out of? Its a 10 team League...I know who i'd draft in 1st(Albert Pujols) and 5th (Ryan Howard who I belive is #5 overall)...where is a better place to draft?

Middle draft slots are a pain, you never have two picks close together so you're vulnerable to being squeezed at a position from both directions.

Too much variability in drafts to name names, although I'd suggest getting at least one outfield in your 2/3 wraparound unless the infield players available are just TOO good to deny. Sizemore is probably a great one to keep in mind for one of them if he's still there. I would probably plan on using the first 5 picks all on hitters, aiming for at least two outfielders, but it really all depends on whether the other managers go crazy on certain positions...or crazy stupid in bypassing others. If things are semi-normal and you have 5 solid batters in your pocket, aim to get one stud starter and one good closer between your 6/7 and 8/9 picks. If the closer run hasn't started yet, you might even want to wait until 10/11. At this point, your hitters are pretty much set up. so start filling out your rotation and relievers, while also snagging the occasional high-upside sleeper or forgotten hitter coming off an injury year. It's almost ALWAYS easier, especially in the preseason, to trade hitting (especially power hitting) for pitching than it is the other way around.

Don't take my suggestions as gospel, there are almost as many draft strategies as their are players. The key thing to keep in mind is flexibility. If there's an early run on a certain position, you might want to change your plan and grab someone to fill that spot if you're nearing a point where there's a STEEP dropoff in productivity. Then again, if there are people in other positions available that are vastly superior, take them and swing a trade after the draft if you feel it's necessary. In general, aim for the highest quality player available, regardless of position, for the first 5-6 rounds at a minimum. If you end up with Howard, Hafner, and Teixiera, do NOT worry, someone WILL trade and trade big.
