I wouldnt do that trade. People place too much stock in Beckett, a SP who has yet to hit 150+ innings in a season.

I would do the trade. However much I'd never have Benitez on my MLB team, he always puts up roto numbers and with Smoltz health I think Benitez over Smoltz is a definite plus.

I also think Rolens will produce more than Sheff. (age, injuries etc.).

That only leaves Mussina as a possible negative against Beckett but only if you buy into Matts theory (which I don't say is absurd - just not neccessarily a given) and even then the differential wouldn't be enough to offset the other two plusses.

The only wildcards left are the situational ones:
how much is your need for offense;
contracts/salaries (if keeper league)
etc.
