I'm putting in waiver claims for Jacoby Ellsbury (for John Buck) and Willy Taveras (for Randy Winn). Are there any outfielders that I should get? (i.e. Jay Bruce). Should I pick up Frank Thomas (the BIG HURT) to play 1st base (as he qualifies there in this league)?

I'm in a 12-team weekly start league w/ pitching staff's instead of individual pitchers. This is my league's point scoring system:

Your players will score points for you each day on which MLB games are played based on the following formula:

Hitters
Single = 1
Double = 2
Triple = 3
Home Run = 4
Run = 1
RBI = 1
Walk = 1
Stolen Base = 2
Caught Stealing = -1

Pitching Staffs
Win = 5

Strikeouts
0-4 = 0
5-7 = 1
8-10 = 2
11-13 = 3
14-16 = 5
17-19 = 7
20+ = 10

Earned Runs Allowed
0 = 10
1 = 7
2 = 5
3 = 3
4 = 2
5 = 1
6+ = 0

Hits + Walks allowed
0 = 30
1 = 20
2 = 15
3 = 10
4-5 = 7
6-8 = 4
9-11 = 2
12-14 = 1
15+ = 0

Only players/pitching staffs that are in your starting lineup each Fantasy Week will score points. Players/pitching staffs on your bench will not score points for your team.

In this league, power rules (effectively 6 points for each homer (4-hr, 1-r,1-rbi), so I would definitely go get Thomas. Especially since he plays 1st in this league.

I agree. This is a power league and you are loaded on steals. I would try to trade one or two of your speed guys for a power bat. and definitely pick up Hurt. Others that might be available - Cust, C. Duncan

that would be a great idea but this league doesn't allow trades :(

Do you have any other suggestions?
