I don't understand how Pujols could go from top of the line to someone that nobody wants. He's had this elbow injury for years and he says one sentence "I won't play through the pain anymore.," and suddenly he's just a nobody on draft day. I see experts saying not to even draft him in the first round but when I saw him in the first (with the 9th pick), I'm not going to pass him up.

Even if he is a risk, what are you getting if he pans out. 30-40 HR or even more? 100 RBI?

At a number 9 pick you can go with a lot less risk than what Pujols will be this year.

The problem with Pujols is that the Cards are probably going to suck this year. There's no reason for him to play a full season if they're out of it. Better to shut it down and get the surgery over with so that you will be closer to full strength come next year, when the Cards may have a better chance. There's just no way they're going to keep up with the Cubs, Brewers, or even Reds, in my opinion.
