Keeper League Expansion

I'm a commish for a 10 player keeper league on yahoo and i'm always lookin to add more managers

What system could i put in place to add more managers?

reduced keepers during the transition? none?

I league I was in expanded from 12 to 14 teams. Each team kept 6 players. We allowed each existing team to protect 2 players. The two new teams then each draft their 6 players from the 12 original teams. None of the 12 teams could lose more than 2 players, so each team lost two players to the newly arriving teams.

Results: The two expansion teams became playoff contenders immediately (H2H league). The top teams had enough depth with their 2 top players to remain at the top. The lower ranking teams took a bit of a hit as some did not have 8 legit keepers (original 6 plus two replacements for players lost). Expansion teams ended up with a pretty good keeper set.

If the expansion teams were given a little bit of an advantage in the auction (or draft although picking first in a snake draft isn't really an advantage). I would advocate letting each team protect 3 in the senario I presented.

so you kept 6 players and protected and additional 2 from being drafted by the expansion teams, but arent property of those teams? then you had a supplemental 6 pick draft before the actual draft right?

that system makes sense if i understand it right. let me know if i'm wrong.

Not sure if I read it right. Ok to Simplify it down. Each of the original 12 teams gets to first keep 2 players. Then the two expansion teams draft from the remaining players with each original team only being able to lose two players (so each team loses two players to the expansion teams). The expansion teams 6 keepers are then set. The original teams now choose 4 additional keepers from their team to achieve 6 keepers all-together.
