He said that he is done for the season. So maybe I can get a good trade from him. Renteria seems to be doing well this year.

Renteria would be a fantastic pickup. At $3 he would be a great keeper for next season. The problem is that if he is playing for next year instead of this year, he will probably want to keep him or get a great value keeper in return. He is probably looking to unload his higher priced stars in exchange for young talent.

Renteria is about the only super value on his team. Pierre is a good pickup for AVG and Steals at $14.

I am glad to hear you have climbed out of the cellar, I hope we have been helpful to you so far this season.

Yes you have been a big help!!! Thanks!!!

Here is a trade offer from another team on my league.
What are your thoughts on this trade?

What are your thoughts on getting Orlando Hernandez off your
roster?
I have Kim coming back soon, and Redding tied to him, so I can
take
Hernandez for Redding. To even it out then, I would do Lawrence
for
Wolf. Lawrence just threw a complete game win against Schilling
yesterday. You'll lose some Ks with Lawrence instead of Wolf,
but
the other numbers should be similar, and you get rid of the
black
hole in your pitching staff.

O Hernandez
Wolf

for

Redding
Lawrence

Let me know.

Brian

Thanks again,
Carl

You wouldn't just be losing K's in this trade, you would be losing alot of wins as well. Wolf will win alot more games than Lawrence. Redding may win some games but you can't count on his ratios to be too good this season. I would hold onto Wolf and replace Hernandez with someone off the waiver wire.

The owner of this fantasy league told me to keep Orlando H on my roster in the beg. of the league because he was suppose to return. But, as you know he is out for the season. So now I am stuck with him unless I trade him. The league rules state that if a player is on the DL and you keep him on your roster for 2 Weeks then you have to keep him on your roster for the rest of the season, unless you trade him.

The league owner suggested in the beg. of the season that I keep Orlando H on my roster because he was going to return in a couple of Weeks. As you know, he is done for the season. So now I am stuck w/him on my roster because league rules state if you keep a DL player on your roster for more than 2 Weeks, you are then stuck with him. You can't drop him or reserve him. The only thing you can do is trade him.

OK, well in that case it would be a good idea to make this deal if you think you can finish in the money this season. If not then hold onto Wolf. If I remember correctly you got Wolf for $3? IF that is correct he is one of the rare cases where I would tell you to use a keeper slot on a pitcher.

http://www.customstat.com/2003/tue/ssrblxx.htm Here is my league website. I really don't know if I have a chance because I don't know how much I can move up by the end of the season. This being my first time watching and paying attention to baseball. I am not sure about the odds of my team making it to the money. Could you please take a look at the website?

Thanks!!!

Well one way to look at it is that the guy trying to trade with you is claiming to be done for the season, yet he is in the money right now in 4th place. You are in second to last place. I do not feel that your roster is capable of moving up to the top 4. So I would hold onto Wolf. Moves you could make for next season:

Trade Javy Lopez to Bush in 2004 for Edgar Renteria.

He needs a catcher upgrade and he has Cabrera to cover at SS. Renteria will make a great keeper at $3.

I would also offer Thome to 6-4-3DP for Marcus Giles and Jason Lane.

Getting Renteria and Giles would give you a very nice middle infield for next year at a very low price, allowing you to spend money on some big sluggers in next years auction.

I know it sucks to give up on a season and work for next year, but with keeper leagues you are trying build a dynasty, and you need a great keeper list to do it.

Let me know what happens.

but, I just learned that '---' means that the player has been dropped, or traded. But, the player has to be kept on the roster to keep the stats for when he was on the team. The good guys have E Rent.

Well Good Guys may not even be interested in trding for this year but you could offer him Thome for Renteria and Nevin.

Nevin is out all this season but will be back next year and is locked in at $7. You need to find out how many years are left on his contract though?

I'll give you Ryan Klesko for Thome.... He is younger, and is signed through '06.

You do not want to make that trade straight up. That saves you money but likely loses you alot of HR and RBI in the future. Also $24 is not a CHEAP keeper.

If you are going to unload Thome you need to get 2 keepers at $10 or less in my opinion.

Besides that Klesko is playing injured right now, and doesn't have nearly as potent of an offense around him to boost his RBI and R totals.
