Was Jimenez high ERA and Ratio due to the fact that he started 5 games last year. Would he be a good sleeper pick for some saves this year.

No the games started did not account for his high ERA and WHIP.

1st Half : 0 GS 6.70 ERA 1.67 WHIP
2nd Half: 7 GS 4.08 ERA 1.67 WHIP

He would be the 3rd closing option in CLE behind Wickman and Riske so I do not think you should take him as a sleeper.

No, it wasn't a direct result of him starting. In fact, he started seven games as a direct result of his horrible performance in the bullpen.

He was actually better as a starter than as a reliever. The one thing to look at with any Colorado player is the Home/Road splits. And last year, he was equally bad on the road as he was at home. You could attribute most of his difficulty to his problems versus LH's, as they raked him for a .959OPS in nearly as many AB's as RH's.

In his career, Jimenez has had some good numbers and flashed a lot of promise. Losing confidence in any park is a tough thing to overcome, but losing confidence when you have to pitch in Coors half the time is a recipe for disaster. I feel confident that he can regain some form and bounce back with a solid year. Whether all of that will translate into saves or save opportunities will depend on Bill Wickman and David Riske.

The Indians have already announced Wickman as their closer, but if he falters it will be between Jimenez and Riske to compete for that closing opportunity. It's also possible that a guy like Jack Cressend could also get a shot. I wouldn't draft him on the hope that he'll get saves, but he's got a lot of upside with that high risk.

jimenez had a no hitter in st louis so he does know how to pitch i think it was because of colorado air now that he is out of colorado i would expect some normal stats out of him

2003 ROAD: 5.13ERA 1.91WHIP .343AVG AGAINST

Doesn't look better to me away from the colorado air.

Jimenez' problem is that he only throws down and hard. He does not change speeds or batter's eye level. Until he learns a 3rd pitch to set up his staples he will get pounded.
