Wickman's elbow is bothering him. What are the chances that Riske could take over the stopper role and possibly keep it for the whole year? Sly

As for Wickman/Riske I think Riske is a good pickup because one of two things is going to happen.

1. Wickman will be fine, be the closer, build his value, and get traded.

2. His elbow is an ongoing issue and Riske closes.

Either way I see Riske as the closer at some point this season.

I thought the chances were pretty good even before Wickman had the elbow trouble. Riske was perfect in save opps after he took over for Baez last year. If Wickman can stay healty and keep his job, he will most likely be traded to a contender come July or August. My money is on injury with Riske taking over before the all-star break.

The future note is because the date says Thursday March 18th...go figure. Secondly, I would take Riske because he'll fall farther in your draft. Let someone jump up on Wickman in the early teen rounds....take Riske in the late teens and twenties...you could have gotten someone better anyways and reap the rewards of 1/2 or maybe even 2/3 of a closer season later with Riske.

I have Wickman for $5 in my AL 4X4 keeper league so I went out & got Riske ($8) I figure Riske's going to put up stats worth at least that, even if he doesn't become the closer anytime soon and if he does, so much the better.

No reason not to grab both of these guys. In the LABR draft they went for $8 and $6 -- they might be even cheaper (though less valuable, too) in a 5x5. Pretty safe bet their combined value will far exceed this, however it breaks down.
