Oh, and I forgot to mention that that leaves you about $48 in salary available.

My thoughts were to drop the following:

Eaton - for the reasons mentioned; high era and whip + durability questions, also because I planned on keeping the other 5 starters

Piazza - just too expensive, I also believe I could draft him for the same if not a cheaper price

Abreu - once again because of the price, OF free agents include Sammy, Chipper, Green + others dropped before the draft. I believe I can get Abreu or one of the other stud outfielders for the same price or better

Lo Duca - I would prefer to have the option to bid on a catcher at the draft ( Piazza and Lo Duca included)

Hart - Just because I don't think he'll start and/or hold on to the starting role

Knowing how much our league values closers I am inclined to keep both Smoltz and Hoffman and trade one half way through the season. Our league uses a inseason dollar value site to evaluate trades and in the future the closers are overrated. This means that you can and will aquire a very valuable hitter/pitcher for a quality closer during the season. I believe that I can concentrate on drafting hitters and my rotation of Beckett, Nomo, Padilla, Willis and Williams can hold up the pitching categories. I appreciate the advise of everyone although it's making me second guess my original instinct Smile

I'm attempting to decide who to keep for the upcoming fantasy season. I feel I have a strong team going in and a good chance of Winning the pool. $130 salary, 14 hitters, 10 pitchers, 5X5 NL only. Need to keep 13 players. Please let me know who you would keep.

Helton, Todd 1B COL $22.00 2004 - I would keep him for any price.
Ramirez, Aramis 3B CHC $7.50 2004 - Showed flashes again last year, reasonable price.
Piazza, Mike C NYM $16.00 2004 - Still a top player, and you have a fairly low salary.
Spivey, Junior 2B ARI $1.50 2004 - Bargin, even if he never reaches his past highs.
Abreu, Bobby RF PHI $18.50 2005 - Kind of pricey, but one of the most solid all around roto players.
Kearns, Austin RF CIN $2.50 2005 - Has showen too much potential to pass up at this price.
Beckett, Josh SP FLA $2.50 2004 - You are just a plain idiot if you don't keep him.
Eaton, Adam SP SD $2.00 2004 - Cheap, will be a 3.50 ERA, 15 win guy.
Nomo, Hideo SP LA $5.00 2004 - Solid, fairly cheap.
Williams, Jerome SP SF $2.50 2005 - Same as Eaton.
Willis, Dontrelle SP FLA $2.50 2005 - Not as good as start, but still solid and cheap. Worth the risk.
Padilla, Vicente SP PHI $4.50 2004 - Will hopefully get back to past form.
Hoffman, Trevor RP SD $4.50 2005 - Padres will win more and he will get a save for most of those wins. I can hear the bells alread!

I didn't realize so many OFs were already available. Abreu would be a reasonable Choice then. Just remember that you have to fill 4 OF spots if you do that...and that's not easy in nonmixed leagues. I'm not sure I'd agree with dropping LoDuca...with catcher such a premium position in your league, that might be risky. But I do agree with Piazza...that contract's a lot of dough.
