I would like to become more involved in the Scoresheet forum this year.
It's difficult to relate other peoples' player evaluations to scoresheet terms. How many people do we have here that either play or are interested in Scoresheet?
As for strategy talk, I've had the league worse batting average the past two years. This will be my third year, and I have the pitching part down. Hook numbers, vs. lefty; vs. righty. My starting pitchers have been middle of the road and I must say I'm proud to have the ERA I've had the past year. My problem is batting average. Anyone have an idea on how to raise it?

Target players who will put the ball in play, and not strike out.

I am beginning to think that Scoresheet is a simulated game based on sabermetrics.
For pitchers I've been looking at WHIP and K/9. For hitters I like strike out rate; OPS; and defensive range.
Right now I have Brad Wilkerson leading off. His OPS is great. Defense, great. Some pop, some speed, yea. Strikes out ALOT! He struck out 147 times in 2005. That's almost as much as Sexson and Dunn. 150 strike outs is acceptable if you also hit 40 bombs, but he isn't gonna do that. I know he'd be a decent fit in the outfield and maybe a number 7 or 8 hitter, but does he have any value as a lead-off man?

I'd be interested in setting up or joining a scoresheet league.

I've tried most other fantasy baseball games, and would like to give scoresheet a shot. Is anyone else interested in getting a league going?

Wilkerosn was the Expos/Nats leadoff man the past 3 or 4 yrs
last year was a bad yr for him but he is moving to the 3rd best hitters park in the game (Arlington) and he is potentially going to be the leadoff man for a powerful offense

look for k's to go down and avg, hr's and runs scored to go up

Wilkerson is a terrible leadoff man. He does get on base via the walk but he cant run. Putting him there also limits his power numbers effectivness. Remeber when the Reds tried to make Adam Dunn a lead off man...

Wilkerson: good player, not so good leadoff man.

If anyone is interested in joining a league...I participate in a continuing 20-team BL (mixed) League that is looking for 2 owners. Teams 14 and 18 are available. Here is the link to the league page:

http://www.scoresheet.com/FOR_WWW/BL_Sandlot_Dreams.htm

If you'd be interested in either one of these teams please contact me at jaroche6@yahoo.com. I will send you the league rules, how we run things.

This is probably a dumb question that I could find the answer to somewhere on here, but could you guys explain how a Scoresheet league works?

Simple answer is this. Scoresheet is league that is a simulation, based on the stats your players have aquired during the week. You can only have as many at bats in the week as your players, and if your players happen to hit 10 hr's one week, then you can expect to hit 10 hr's in your games that week. It is hard to explain in one paragraph, but it is the best fantasy baseball game I have ever played.

I think we would need at least 20 teams if we do a mixed (AL/NL) league or 10 teams if we do NL only or AL only.

It might be interesting to do NL only and have no DH. I haven't taken a close look at the scoresheet rules, but I'm assuming you can have pitchers hit.

Dan, lets see what kind of response we get here first. I guess the only issue is that the cost is a bit more than a typical ESPN or CBS league.

I think it's $100 a team. We have a 12 team NL only private league. We pay $80 a team because you get a discount if your able to turn in all the money at once. Then you pay $4 each time you change your lineup and pitching staff on the web. When I first got involved in scoresheet, I was worried about the lineup changes, but you don't make many. I think I may have changed my lineup 5 times all season.

Oh sorry man, I can't afford that much with the other leagues I'm already in. Maybe next year when I have the money from winning our keeper. SSHHH!
