Couldn't you get more for Lidge??

Phillies acquire RHP Brad Lidge and infielder Eric Bruntlett from the Astros for outfielder Michael Bourn, RHP Geoff Geary and third baseman Mike Costanzo.
We're not at all impressed with Ed Wade's first move as Houston's GM. Bourn could have a long career as a fair regular, but he's basically another Willy Taveras for the Astros. If Lidge's arrival in Philadelphia results in Brett Myers' return to the rotation, this could be a big winner for Pat Gillick. Geary is an average middle reliever and Costanzo's a long shot to have a career, so this basically boils down to Lidge for Bourn. Lidge is only under control for one more year, so it's not a huge slam dunk. Still, turning Myers back into a starter gives the Phillies a bigger rotation upgrade than they possibly could have picked up in free agency. Nov. 7 - 10:56 pm et

Though the return isn't that much, I'm not sure Lidge would merit a huge return. Ever since Pujols went deep in the NLCS, Lidge has been unreliable. This way, the Stros can focus on getting a more reliable closer into the lineup, put Bourn in CF (they need a legit CF), and trade Luke Scott for a rotation upgrade. And since Lidge is going into his contract year, it was a good move to get talent now rather than hope he merits "A" status.
Since the Phils can use Lidge to close and move Myers back to the rotation (where he belongs), it looks like a win-win deal to me.

Qualls just inherited the closer role, but the Stros will find someone else to fill in by ST. My prediction is Todd Jones and another trade is always possible.

The Astros did get Bagwell back in the day for Anderson, but then again did trade Abreu for Kevin Stocker. Sometimes trading is always a roll of the dice. I heard Fuentes of the Rockies could be of interest for Houston. If this is true then why trade Lidge when you had him in the fold. Then again that is why they get paid the big bucks.
