7 walks for CC in first 2 starts. He only averaged 1.9 per 9 last year.

I would blame it only the early seasons but CC did not have alot of walks in the spring.

Sell low on CC before it is too late?

By my calculations, 5 games out of the 162 have been played. Thats roughly 3% of the season. I think it would be a tad early to jump ship on C.C., dont you?

yes I do, but CC does not walk people. One sign I hve seen in 8 years of fantasy after throwing alot of innings the previous year is high walk rate.

I was just getting the question out to see what some thought.

CC avg. 1.9 walk per 9 last year and only has around 13-15 career in the month of April.

If in his next start he walks 5, then I am starting to think.

It would take CC being horrific the entire month of April to start worrying but if you feel you can get even value out of another SP then feel around for offers in your league.

You know, I stayed away from him this year thinking that at some point his conditioning, specifically his lack thereof, is going to catch up to him. Could be happening now, could be next year, could be in a few years.

Of course you can't really trade him right now cause his value will be so low. I'd make a point of watching his next few outings and see if he's laboring.

Right now I would not be worried about Sabathia.

I think that this is would be a good opportunity to buy low if his owner was doubting him, but if I was that owner I would not let his last two starts take away from his trade value. That is because I think that when the season is over he will be up there among the top starters again. Probably not as good as last year, but good enough.

Worried? Hell no, and I don't even own him. Now's the time to make a deal to acquire him.

I own CC in both of my leagues, and I'm not worried. It's two starts. If he did this in July or August, most owners wouldn't even notice. And it's not like he was getting lit up all spring too. Hopefully he gets back on track tonight against Oakland.

I would also agree with those trying to buy low on CC. He's one of the best buy-low candidates out there right now.

I actually just checked his 2007 game log, and he had two worse back-to-back starts in July last year. Gave up 13 ER and 24 baserunners in only 11 innings. Still won the Cy Young. Don't worry (even if he struggles tonight, he has never been great against the A's).

If anybody is selling low on Sabathia they are idiots. It seems like every year he gives up a lot of hr in the first month, then he's lights out the rest of the way. I would just about gurantee his walk rate gets back down to 1.9. Prey on those idiots who abandon ship. He's a perenial Cy Young candidate.

Tonight is not looking that good. I hope I do not regret trading him for Verlander a week ago.

From Rotoworld:

Quote:
C.C. Sabathia was lit up for nine runs in 3 1/3 innings by the Athletics on Friday.

Sabathia surrendered a run in every inning, including five in the second, taking his ERA up to 11.57 on the year. It's the first time in three outings that he's really stunk up the joint, but he also doesn't have a quality start yet. It's not a velocity problem; beginning in the second inning, he was typically at 93-95 mph with his fastball tonight. Hoever, his slider might as well have not existed. We'd be more worried if he was throwing the ball over the place or was struggling to touch 90 with his heater. It looks like he's healthy, and if that's the case, it's only a matter of time before he gets it turned around. Apr. 11 - 8:38 pm et

Sounds like a buy low recommendation to me.

Not the start I was expecting from my ace. In both leagues too. Ouch.

I know it was the Royals, but that start made me feel a LOT better about big C.C.

Dotto, now I can shop him around. CC is horrible against the Yanks, his next (Yanks) start will be the determining start I feel.
