is he the real deal??? or i have an oppurtuniety to trade him for veron wells?? what other trading options should i explore??

I am a McLouth owner and big fan of him, but I would trade him for Wells. McLouth is building on his great second half last year, and could easily reach 20/20 status this year. However, Wells has proven to be a very good fantasy OF already. He had a bad year last year due to a bum shoulder, but he seems to be healthy again this year, and he is hitting very well.

This isn't as much of an obvious trade to me as it probably is to others (just because of Vernon Wells' name), but I'd still do it. It does depend some on your team needs, but it's usually better to go for overall value before category needs this early. In my opinion, I think Wells' advantage in HR and RBI will be greater than McLouth's advantage in runs and SB.

to me it's pretty even. there's an explanation for how bad wells was last year (the shoulder), and he looks good so far. he's got more track record. but i also totally believe in mclouth - not that he's going to hit .380, but that he's going to have a solid year, comparable in fantasy value to a good wells year. he'll probably lean more towards a 20-HR, 30-steal balance, whereas wells is more of a 30-15 type. and wells has more name value, which means more trade value, as long as he keeps hitting. (unless mclouth actually sustains this crazy behavior and winds up as one of the most valuable fantasy players in all the land, which, as much as i love him, i personally doubt.)

i also don't think mclouth can keep getting this many RBI as a leadoff hitter on an NL team. in fact i'm not even really sure how he's done it in the first place.

so - in all honesty, it's probably better advice to make the deal, but my gut says keep mclouth. so i don't know what to tell you. mostly i just think it could go either way.

Wells > McLouth. Wells is going to have a monster year, and McLouth is a sell high candidate IMO.
