I'm in a 10 team non-keeper roto league, 5x5 except we use OBP instead of AVG.

I have been offered Troy Tulowitzki for my Rickie Weeks.

Weeks was one of my sleepers coming into the season, since he easily has 25/30 potential if he's healthy (which is his big risk). Also, his low AVG doesn't matter here since he actually posts an above-average OBP (.374, .363 the last two seasons).

However, I have Kinsler at 2B already and Weeks at Util, and Tulowitzki would replace Peralta at SS for me, which would be an upgrade. I'm just not sure about Tulowitzki since he is struggling terribly right now and has a limited track record.

But Weeks is my leading SB guy, and I'd be left expecting 20+ from only Young and Kinsler, and hopefully double digits from Abreu and A-Rod. So I don't know if I should do this, or counter with Kinsler for Tulowitzki. My ideal situation would be to package Peralta with a SP, but he already rejected that. So maybe I'll try Peralta and a RP.

What do ya'll think? And would you rather have Weeks or Kinsler (in this format remember, where Weeks will actually have a higher OBP)? Thanks.

My lineup:

C-Towles
1B-Teixeira
2B-Kinsler
SS-Peralta
3B- A-Rod
OF-Dunn
OF-C. Young
OF-Abreu
Util-Swisher
Util-Weeks
bench-Longoria

overall i think i'd rather have weeks, especially if your team needs the speed.

weeks is known as injury-prone but he really only had one injury; it just happened to last for like three years. tulo should get going and be good, particularly as summer comes to colorado, but weeks has more all-around talent and more fantasy upside. your positional situation is a factor in favor of tulo, but i think the speed thing overrides it.

also, weeks >> kinsler by a pretty large margin, as far as i'm concerned.

Thanks OPEC, those are my feelings as well.

I countered with Peralta and Kerry Wood for Tulowitzki. Hopefully this works since his RP is a mess after Nathan with only Borowski and Chad Cordero. I really don't want to give up either Weeks or Kinsler, and my RP would still be OK with Jenks, Soria, Broxton, Betancourt and Moylan.

Might try a trade selling high on Longoria for Tulowitzki as well since I have A-Rod at 3B.

In a non-keeper, I'll take Weeks. I like your Peralta/Wood offer.

My Peralta/Wood offer for Tulowitzki offer is still out there, but out of the blue I see this:

Derrek Lee for my Mark Teixeira.

I know I'd be selling low and buying high, but I'm a huge Cubs fan and haven't seen DLee like this since his crazy 2005 year. Everyone says wrist injuries take two years to heal, so he is completely healthy now. He just looks so locked in right now.

I know Teixeira is a slow starter and will be good for 90+ R, 30+ HR, 100+ RBI, but I think DLee could approach his 2005 season. 110 R, 35 HR, 110 RBI, 10 SB and a OBP well over .400 all seem reasonable to me the way he's looking. Great protection behind him in Ramirez and Fukudome (meaning lots of runs if they walk him) and Wrigley isn't even supposed to be a hitter's park until at least late May.

So I guess I just want some opinions since I may be biased as a Cubs fan (and the other guy knows I am). Who would you rather have?

i'd totally take lee for teixeira. i've always thought that '05 breakout was real and the wrist thing just messed him up. looks fine now.

Swapping stud first baseman is all this is. Lee is hot but Tex will get hot too.

I've been sitting on this Lee for Teixeira trade a little while now, and the other guy decided to try to spice it up for me with this:

I get: DLee, Victor Martinez, Carlos Marmol
I give: Teixeira, JR Towles, Bobby Jenks

I am leaning toward accepting this deal. I believe fantasy closers are overrated in most leagues other than for using them as trade bait, while MR are vastly underrated. Jenks is a top closer, but he is only better in one category compared to Marmol. Plus I have Kerry Wood, so this deal would assure me the closer for the Cubs should Wood's arm go out. My RP would still be pretty good with Soria, Wood, Betancourt (who I think will become a very good closer), Broxton, and Marmol. Pairing Broxton and Marmol is like having an elite pitcher on a bad team (think Scott Kazmir wins and K's but with better ratios). Plus they are an injury away from becoming elite closers.

But anyway, the other main point here is V-Mart for Towles. Towles was a sleeper for me coming into the year and has performed well (he has a bad average, but he has 4 HR already and a great OBP for our league due to his 7:7 BB:K ratio through 15 games).

Martinez is off to a slow start like the rest of the Indians, but he is still the best catcher in fantasy in my opinion. Add in the fact that I have a team lacking in RBI due to my many leadoff men, and I feel I should do this trade. If he finishes with 25 HR and 90+ RBI then this should be a good deal for me.

Lee and Teixeira are pretty much a wash in this to me - Lee could be better if he reverts back to '05 form, but Teixeira is probably the safer bet. I guess I'm just a little gunshy considering I felt the same way I do with Towles as I did with Martin last year as my late-round catching sleeper. Should I go ahead and do this?

as far as i'm concerned that's a "how fast can you hit the button" deal.

Haha well I was still able to accept, just didn't realize it was such a sure thing. Funny how this thread started with Tulowitzki for Weeks and turned into a big 3 for 3 trade like this.

Thanks for the advice guys.
