Pondering the making of a trade offer

10 Team H2H Sportsline Dynasty League (Points)

Im thinking of making the following offer
My Tex
for
Delmon Young and Kershaw
As you may know, Sportsline Points Leagues lean towrds SPs. My main target in this deal is Kershaw. Im thinking if after it is sure he will be up for good I should be able to spin Young and one of my lesser SPs for a better U/ OF

Good idea?

Here is my roster

1B- Pujols
2B- Weeks
3B- Zimmerman
SS- Hanley
OF- Bay
OF- McClouth
OF- Soriano
OF- Hart
U- Tex
U- Longoria

SP- Oswalt, Volquez, Cain, Hamels, Shields, Olsen, Sonnenstein, Wainwright, Bailey (have to hold him in actives as he is over minor league limitations) and Gallardo rounding out then list on the DL

RP- Jenks, Cordero (F) and Wilson

That definitely makes it more interesting. Delmon's K rate is down rite scary, and his power hasn't materialized yet, he is young but it's possible he may never be more than a 15hr guy. That said, Price is a stud. But he's still a prospect, and anything can happen. If this was a 20 team league I would be more likely to do this trade. In a 10 team league i think i would shy away at this point. It's a tough call. Could be a good chance to buy low on Delmon, but i just have a feeling he's not going to pan out. If you're in contention this year, don't do this deal. If you arent, it's worth strong consideration.

It is a points league in Sportsline and even though he hasnt hit any homers so far his points total for the year are only 7-8 less than Tex's.

Tex 115 or so
So the production is there. I think it is just a matter of his feeling "loved" or getting comfy up there in MN more than anything else before the HRs start coming.

About Price, yes he is indeed a stud. If anything, having his arm as a good back up is a good thing. Especailly if he comes up in the second half.

The only reason Young is anywhere close to Tex in points in your league is because Tex always starts slow. Comparing Tex to anyone after the first two months of the year isn't really worthwhile.

Personally, I'm concerned about Delmon. He hasn't hit with power since 2005, and the first half, at that. Once he was promoted from AA to AAA back in '05, his homer rate dropped off the planet, and it hasn't come back. He has a freaking .606 OPS this year!

I know he's extremely young and there's still a lot of time for growth, but he was once projected as a fast-track, can't-miss, ARod/Junior kind of hitter. That isn't happening. His SLG has dropped the past three years, his GB rate is up, and his discipline is poor (though maybe improving). Those are not the trends of an up-and-coming slugger. He can still be an impact player, for sure, but you're buying low on a prospect, a risky proposition at best, and not the kind of trade that should force you to give up a premier 1Bman, dynasty league or not.

Meanwhile, David Price hasn't pitched an inning of pro ball yet due to elbow soreness. He hasn't even begun to bear the rigors of a major league career, and already his elbow is barking? Yes, he's a great prospect, I don't take that away from him, but you shouldn't have to give up Tex in order to acquire a young hitter who is trending the wrong way and a pitching prospect whose elbow hurts despite not yet throwing a single pitch in his professional career.
