I've been offered my choice of Dice-K or King Felix, plus JJ Hardy for either Ian Kinsler or Jose Reyes.

Would you do 1 of those deals?

Thanks.

I would do Ian Kinsler for King Felix/JJ Hardy and not even think twice about it. As long as you have a backup option at 2b. I dont think i would give up Reyes though.

No, I wouldn't be dealing a 5 cat. stud for a pitcher. You're talking about 2 early round draft choices next year. There is a short list of players (if there is one at all) that are putting up better all around numbers than Ian Kinsler. Be smart, don't make this trade. Thumbs Down

Disagree here. Kinsler will be a late first rounder next year. No pitcher is worth that.

From Roto Authority:

Next Year's First Round
What will the average first round look like in 2009 drafts? To review, here's how it often played out in March of '08:

Alex Rodriguez
Hanley Ramirez
David Wright
Jose Reyes
Matt Holliday
Jimmy Rollins
Miguel Cabrera
Chase Utley
Ryan Howard
Albert Pujols
Prince Fielder
Ryan Braun
Eight players will probably remain in the top 12: A-Rod, Hanley, Wright, Reyes, Holliday, Utley, Pujols, and Braun.
Rollins, Cabrera, Howard, and Fielder are out on account of their less-than-amazing seasons.
Howard should finish with 40 HR and 125 ribbies, but the .240 AVG will be hard for drafters to ignore. He'd have to crank that up to at least the .260s to sniff the first round again.
Based on reasonable preseason rankings, Fielder never belonged in the first round.
Cabrera didn't really hit his stride until July. I could see him surging to finish close to last year's .320-34-119-91-2. But like Howard, perception of his slow start may push him out of the first round.
Lance Berkman could be a new addition, on account of a .340 AVG, 120 runs, and 20 steals. Can he repeat any of those numbers though?
Will Ian Kinsler be 2009's Rollins? Will Josh Hamilton get in with a 135 RBI season? Other candidates to sneak in: Grady Sizemore, Brandon Webb.
My projected first round for 2009:

Hanley Ramirez
Alex Rodriguez
David Wright
Jose Reyes
Chase Utley
Ryan Braun
Albert Pujols
Matt Holliday
Ian Kinsler
Lance Berkman
Josh Hamilton
Brandon Webb

.....whether this is a keeper league or not, this is the kind of player you'd be trading for a pitcher who pitches one of the worst teams in baseball. Kinsler is now an elite player at his position. Taking nothing away from The King, but he's not equal to the production of a first/second round hitter- that's what Kinsler currently is and will be in 2009.

We already know the value of Kinsler in roto but just how valuable is Kinsler in pts. leagues.......in the pts. leauge I play in look where Kinsler currently is.....

Players Weekly Scoring MLB Points Stats

Berkman, Lance 1B HOU 421.0
Kinsler, Ian 2B TEX Diamond Kings 421.0
Reyes, Jose B. SS NYM 405.0
Sizemore, Grady CF CLE 394.0
Wright, David 3B NYM 389.0

That's the top 5 with Kinsler tied for first.

King Felix is on his way to being Webb or better, and Hardy is holding his own just fine.

We're speculating at what type of league it is. Until we know there's no point in arguing about this. By the way how many points does Felix and Hardy have?

Plus we dont know what his backup option at 2b is. If he doesnt have a good backup option, I definitely wouldnt do this trade like i said before. This guy needs to post his team and what type of league it is before everybody gets worked up over this.

King Felix checks in at 182.5 pts

JJ Hardy checks in at 252 pts

Brandon Webb and Cliff Lee lead all pitchers with 296 and 293 pts.

No, it's pretty typical. However, we don't award 2-3 pts for inn. pitched like some silly leagues do. A win is awarded with 10 pts. along with the general scoring for pitchers (+1 for each strikeout etc....) Everyday players like hitters are able to generate more points than a pitcher who plays once or twice a week. The King shouldn't be too high in pts. leagues anyway with only 7 wins.

I like leagues that are based on individual performance. Wins has a lot to do with the team they play for, not how good a pitcher they are. Do you really think joe saunder is a better pitcher then Felix.

I like both roto and h2h pts but that's another topic for a different day. I know you're in love with The King but wouldn't you rather have Saunder's 14 wins than the Kings puny 7?
