Thoughts on the following offer in a 12 team 5x5 mixed keeper league:

I deal:
KingFelix $12, Hunter Pence $5, Andy LaRoche $4, and Rickie Weeks $9

I get:
David Wright $10, Jason Kubel $6, and Derek Jeter $13

Kubel and Jeter could also be swapped out for Josh Willingham $8 and Chone Figgins $13. It would essentially be the other owner's choice.

I am still in first place by close to 20 points now, but will have a huge hole at 3B next season and am looking to fill it here.

A much better deal for you that actually improves your team as hard as that is to believe.....your loaded team just got even better.

Not sure, I consider Jeter keeper worthy. So he's a non factor in this deal. As much as i like David Wright. I dont think him a Kubel are worth those 4. I believe its closer then K_Man is making it out to be.
I would think about trading Beltran and Laroche for Wright. That way you can keep Pence and stay young. Wright will make up for any initial losses of giving up Beltran, and Pence is going to start turning it up.
A huge hole at 3b? I see 4 pretty good 3b.

Is there really a need to have so many offensive players? Are you supposed to have 2 per position? If not i would think about getting more pitching. No point having all those batters if they just sit there. Start trading for some more pitching.

The goal here is to improve your starting (active) lineup. I believe you stated at some point you can start 4 outfielders. If you do make this trade your 4 outfielders in 2009 will be Braun, Sizemore, Markakis and Beltran- hardly old timers, so there is no pressing need like badmutha says to "stay young", and you will not have to trot out Beltre, Laroche or Cantu- who by the way has come out of nowhere to put up very good numbers. You're about to acquire a top 10 draft choice (Wright) for years to come for a good starting pitcher and several players who'm you will not even miss because your team is so strong.

None of the players you are dealing are overall top 10 fantasy players like David Wright. The only player I wouldn't want to deal is Felix, but, your pitching is so strong right now that you will not miss him at all in 2009.

Wright is a stud. He is worth King Felix and the rest. For the record, I'd rather have Figgins and Willingham.

I need more pitching? Peavy, Sabathia, Zambrano, Lincecum, and Santana? I thought Hernandez, although I love him, might get me the biggest return.

FWIW, we start 5 OF in our league along with Cx2, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, MI, CI, OFx5, and a DH/UTIL spot. Oh, and 9 pitchers.

I am still waiting to hear from this owner - I doubt he does it though as we have spoken so many times about Wright in the past, and he is probably his best player, although he really needs pitching.

What if he asks for Kershaw as well? Too much to have the top 3B for my roster?

Give it to him. We're talking about David Wright: a true stud.

All that for one guy. Youre setting a dangerous precedent for that league.

He's getting 3 guys, one of them is a sure first round pick. He's losing no player remotley close to a first round pick. Not sure what you're missing here.

I think I follow you here. It is a bit of quantity over quality that is for sure...but it is a keeper league, Kershaw, Hernandez, and Pence plus maybe LaRoche or Weeks pans out.

Wright would be the only keeper in that deal on the other side, albeit a 1st rounder, but we do not use a traditional drafting method with rounds...

Understood, just using "first round pick" for value purposes....and, i'd rather keep Wright than "all" of those players with the team you already have.

This deal comes down to whats right for YOUR team not just any other team.

This is why i dont like small quantity keeper leagues. Hugely unrealistic trades.
