Definitely a young 3B - but you can always get great middle relief prospects who could turn into closers later on.

Get as much hitting as you can - then grab a bunch of pitchers with high upside.

I say get a sure thing closer, especially in a keeper league, because then its something you dont have to worry about anymore. While everybody else is scrapping for saves on the wire, you'll have nothing to worry about. You can just as easily find SP, even easier actually, as a closer. And usually closers you find on the wire end up back on the wire. Get a sure thing, and sit back and watch everybody else scrap.

Closers are overrated and even the average closer only helps in the save category.

Gagne turned into Torres
Saito turned into Broxton
Isringhausen and Franklin turned into Perez
Wood (when hurt) can turn into Marmol
Street is going to turn into Zieglar
Putz turned into Morrow for part of the season
CJ Wilson turned into Guardado
Percival's spot is being filled by Balfour

Soon
Rivera will turn into Melancon
Nathan will turn into Neshak
K-Rod will turn to Arredondo or Shields
Hoffman will turn into Bell
Lyon will turn into Rauch

It's such a volatile position that I will always stock up on hitting - then take the solid middle relievers who will turn into closers

Did i say to pick any of those you named. There are more secure options out there.

Really?

I see five secure options: Papelbon, K-Rod, Mariano, Nathan, and Soria

Then two secure options if they didn't have injury history: Jenks and Wood

That's not a lot of options out there - I think the rest of the closers are interchangeable - lots of saves, but lots of ERA and WHIPs higher than you want in a 12 team league.

So if you could get one of those 5, why wouldnt you? Then you dont have to worry about taking wild stabs at who will be a closer.

I don't think its wild stabs - it's educated guesses as to who the top relief prospects are.

Additionally, they are 16 rounds into a 12 team dynasty league draft - why would any of those five guys be there if he took a 37 year old guy with arm problems?

Stock up on the best hitters available

I've updated my roster, what do you think of my team with only afew more rounds to go? I can have 35 on my minor league roster, and 25 on my MLB roster
