Who do you think will be the most valuable closer for the second half of the baseball season? I have nathan and wagner and I am looking for one more. I can make a trade for anyone, but I obviously want the best investment. Anyone have any thoughts?

Assuming 5x5 roto...

1. K-Rod
2. Rivera

I'd say those guys comprise the top tier (excluding the guys you already have). Rivera would be a good trade target given his early struggles and lack of opportunity thus far. I expect the Yankees will be in more close games over the second half when things tighten up.

The next tier would be guys like Papelbon, Hoffman, Putz and Saito. Saito would probably be the easiest to get here because of the presence of Broxton in that pen and the perception that he's due to take over at any time (though Saito has been really effective).

You said you want to trade for the best, but remember that you're really chasing one category, so it makes more sense to go after a guy who won't cost you too much to acquire.

If you feel you have enough talent to acquire any closer out there, you may already be in fantastic shape and maybe oughta question the wisdom of adding a 3rd closer.

An alternative might be to look for a vulture closer-in-waiting type. I'm betting both Chad Qualls and Joakim Soria will be good for 10 second-half saves each.
