I recall driving though PA a few several yrs ago when the Phillies were playing in the old Vet stadium. The crouds were slim and the huge place was empty like the grand canyon. Managed to get on a local sports radio show and mentioned why don't they find some local schools and open the upper deck and give them a thrill in sept. They thought I was nuts and they were most likely correct.

BUT , why cannot a team who is out of it and not selling seats give KIDS a shot in the arm. Its bad enough baseball is no longer considered our past time, the games are on to late, or unavailable in some markets for them to view.

Makes sense.

A few years back when the Jays were having real trouble getting people into the SkyDome, I suggested why not give away the 500 level seats for $2.

Not only would you make your face off on concessions, but by filling the place at least you'd create the impression that something's going on, that people care.

They actually did it a few years ago, but only for a few games. Unfortunately they stopped once the Jays started getting about 18,000 a game, which I guess is sufficient Roll Eyes

You both have big hearts and good sense. But the big wigs of baseball are not about doing the right thing, they are about money. Supply and demand dictate the games' moves and that means very few freebies for kids. PR is sometimes a beneficiary of these gimmicks, but more often than not it just comes down to selling tix at full value.
