when harden goes down for his first of three DL trips this season... will gio be the recieving the call up? Because i have him stashed on my bench right now in a keeper league and I'm wondering if I should try and wheel or just sit tight and wait for the porcelin rich to break a nail

Sit tight. He's projected as a #3 at the moment, but i think he's far better than that. I think he's better than Blanton right now.

No......Blanton is miles ahead of Gonzalez at this point, and is still improving.

Time for a reality check on Gio. I don't have a clue why he's getting the hype he is. Guessing Pouliot over at Rotoworld has a lot to do with it.

Gio may or may not (Greg Smith?) get the first callup. There's also a good chance Dallas Braden or Lenny DiNardo fills the (still hypothetical) rotation spot. There's at least a chance he doesn't appear until September. Assuming he arrives this summer, he may have some immediate success from guys not having seen him, but he's very likely to struggle over the course of this season and likely next, too. His stuff is good, but not great, and he still has major work to do on his control. Luckily he'll be playing in a big park, however he'll be supported by a well-below-average offence. And he can't hold runners on. At all.

I didn't say he would start over Blanton. I just think he is an overall better pitcher, with more upside.

upside doesnt always equate to a successful career

gonzalez's control is still far from polished and i cant see him being called up before september
