One guy in are league just traded David Aardsma for Billy Wagner with his best friend. Now is that team work or what. Here's the kicker to everything- It's the commissioner of the league getting Wagner and wont listen to anyone about veto talk saying this league doesn't have a veto system. Now it's true we dont have a veto system but we also never had this type of trade to this extent. The worst thats happened before this was Doug Davis & Dustin Hermanson for Zambrano also by the commissioner. Anyone have a idea on how to handle this?

Even my wife said "who for Wagner, something ain't right there" and she doesn't know a thing about baseball.

My advice is get out of the league.
There's no point staying in a league if the commissioner is corrupt.
You should also warn anyone you know who may want to join that league.

do you have a league board that rules if the commish is involved in any trades in our league we have a league board of 4 members tahta rule together and if the commish is involved in a trade or any problems the rest of the board reviews it and he has no say in rulings but i agree if you are in a league liek that i would reconsider my league

also just so you know our board has never overturn a trade fleecing is part of the game but we have never had a trade like that before either
good luck

if you stay i would try to install a league commitee or board to erase any problems in the future

It seems like leagues with commissioners have trade vetoing issues. We don't have a commissioner, we just have a 75% of owners (not involved in trade) veto rule. Never been needed, but the fact that it is there keeps everyone honest.

In your situation, I would try to get all but the commissioner (and maybe his friend) to leave to form a new league - in essence booting this corrupt a$$hole from the league. Keep your teams and rules, but get rid of the bad apple. Best of luck to you - you need it.

Is this a keeper league or single season? If it's keeper, do you have a salary system?

RC2 has a valid point...if it is a keeper auction league, then one player could be building for the future by trading for Aardsma, who may get a shot to close if Herges falters, and is definitely SF's future closer.

I agree that it still stinks, and if the commish continues to make deals like that, have a league vote and fire him.

Exactly, trading away Wagner now might not make any sense, but say it's a contract league and Wagner's in the last year of his deal. If you feel you're building for the future that deal might be a good way to go. And I mention salaries, b/c a lot of times players with high salaries are more difficult to get someone to take on.

Yep..if Wagner is at $34 and Aardsma is at a $1, and I know after the auction that there is no way I can win the league that year, that deal may make sense.

Years ago I did the same thing, in trading Franco for a young player who Boston had traded to the Mets, Armando Benetiz. I caught a lot of grief for the trade but was set for saves for the next three years at $2.

I could accept the salary arguement if the guy got a couple of good young players for Wagner. Was this a 1 for 1 trade or were other players invovled?
I used to be in a football league with a commissioner who pulled all kinds of crap. This guy even had a "friend" in the league who was always mysteriously busy on draft day. The drafts were in Person but everything else about the league was done over the internet so there was little face to face conversation after draft day.
Every season the commissioner would draft his friend's team and by the end of the year the best players from "friend's" team would end up on the commissioner's team.
I don't know if your commissioner is shady. But, if there's a pattern of behavior and a history of questionable activity, i'd dump the league. It's hard enough to compete on a level playing field.

Either way...I don't like this deal...even if building for the future. You should be able to get a lot more than Aardsma for one of the most dominant closers in the game...who by the way at 32 should still have 2 to 3 dominant years left in him. Too one way....The thought of a board, or a % of the owners to veto the trade is needed. Quite frankly, if the commish has been involved in more than 1 "shaky" transaction that went in his favour...I would get out (especially if his buddy is feeding his team).

either way deal was wrong.......Aardsma is a guy I am very high on, but I would have wanted more for Wagner. I am rebuilding my team I got in a league that has been around for 7 years. Auction contract style...I had wagner and traded him....But I got G. Maddux and A. Lieter and picks for him......should have done better...Bye the way I traded Maddux aswell...

There is no salaries involved, full keeper and there's a second guy in charge but he works for the commissioner in real life and I think doesn't say nothing to keep bossman happy.
I'm gonna probably just get out of the league but not before I put my mark on the league.

Sure you don't mean cajones? I'm not sure having (or not having) eggs would help help the "lackie" Detective

While "cajones" is correct, so is huevos. Huevos is used as slang for balls. ie. "chupame huevos" = suck my balls.
