I wouldnt give up Soriano for anyone except possibly Pujols, Beltran, or ARod. That said, dont trade him for Vernon Wells.

Tejada for Wells seems to be about equal to me (unless its a keeper league, then take Wells), maybe a little better for you. They will post simular numbers, except for BA (Wells will hit a bit higher). But you give up Tejada at SS for that extra average. I would do that trade.

Who would replace Tejada at short?

I'm not sure I'd give up either of those for Wells. His stock should be a little lower with a lot of the owners out there and giving up a first round guy (Soriano or Tejada) for a 2nd-3rd rounder doesn't make a whole helluva lot of sense to me.

Tejada a first round pick?? Tejada, on average, isnt a first round pick (in my drafts, he is usually selected late 2nd-3rd). And according to your projection, Wells is better too.

Would that be a Yahoo league, where we are all aware that the drafting is done pretty horribly? Because ESPN's Live Draft rankings for a Mixed Universe league shows Tejada's average selection at pick #12 (12.88 is the average to be exact), which is actually the 11th highest player on the list. At #12, I would consider Tejada a late first round/early second round guy. I took him in the first round in some cases where I was stuck low in the draft order.

Just because I play under the Yahoo system, doesnt mean we are all idiots. I dont play public leagues with idiots, I play private leagues with people who know what they are doing. And in these leagues, Tejada has not been a first round pick.

I think the overlooked statement is that Matsui is replacing Tejada. You are staring at a dropoff at shortstop that is getting bigger with every crappy (probably injured) day that Kaz puts up.

Wells is an improvement over Lee, but not enough to make up for Kaz. Don't do it.
