I have the 8th pick overall in a 20 team 5 keeper league. I already have Prior Halliday Wolf Berkman and Green. I feel I will have these 4 to decide from....Maggs, Manram(manny rameriez) Preston Wilson or Nomar. Base your reponses not on postion scarcity but on pure numbers. Can Maggs rebound? If so thats who I am leaning towards. Thanks

First off, Welcome to RotoChamps! Laughing

You can't go wrong with any of those guys. I would narrow it down to Maggs or Nomar.

And yes Maggs will rebound.

I assume you mean Shawn Green. Of those guys, here is how I would rank them:

Nomar
Manny
Maggs
Wilson

You say don't base responses on position scarcity. You already have 2 Of's so it would be prudent to take a SS. I am not big on position scarcity myself, but in this case Nomar would be the logical choice. I have him higher than Mags in my ranking anyway, although him being a SS is taken into account. On pure numbers I think Manny will put up the best. But dude is a flake. I never seem to have him on my teams even though I know he will hit.

Just my opinion but Nomah is the way to go.

Good luck with your decision.

The reason I mentioned postion scarcity is becaause i was hoping to get a kid like Berroa Crosby or Reyes in the 3rd round and in this pool you can't keep 1st round picks so whoever i choose goes back. I want to take the best available and if you feel Nomars numbers are comparable well then cool, thanks for the reply

Still in that situation you cannot pass up Nomar's numbers for a SS. I just don't think he will last till your pick at #8, but then again I don't know who is out there.

You can't go wrong with any of those guys except Wilson. I have a hunch Preston Wilson's numbers are going to dip a bit this season.

Those are really good players still available. With 100 players already kept,I would think those guys would be the 1rst 4 taken and not be available to you. 20 team league. Never heard of a league that big.

I heard a rumor P Wilson has fluid around the knee and has a thumb problem from last season. Can't grip the bat as good.
Rumors or is it really true?????

Yes it is true.

During the offseason Wilson had surgery to reattach a ligament in his pinkie finger. Also early on in Spring Training he experience pain in his knee. He got an MRI and it revealed a fluid pocket, but no serious damage. That all sounds bad, but I believe he should be ok for this year.

Maybe you should take another pitcher for when Prior's Achilles ruptures..Not like you are going to amount to anything once your season starts...if you have to ask about who to pick in the 8 spot you might as well pack it in already and deal all your picks to someone who can win.

HiroshimaCarp - you are new so consider this your warning: Do not insult other members or be a jackass on my forums or you will be banned.

oh yeah, Welcome to Rotochamps.

Okay sorry for insulting Prior 17....On a side note isn't calling me a jackass insulting me??

Lol--just kidding admin. I am in the same pool as the prior17 so thought it would be humourous to trash talk with him. I was not aware of the stringent rules of the posts regarding trash talking...perhaps a new forum dedicated to all trash talking could be put in place??

On a side note in the pitcher projections I didn't see Schmidt projected anywhere. Where should he be ranked in the top pitchers..as well are there any other big names that I have missed?

HiroshimaCarp - I was not aware that you and Prior17 knew eachother. That puts a very different spin on it. Perhaps next time just let us know how you relate to others before throwing the smack down. I don't mind trash talk amongst friends. We have had some problems with people coming here and immediately insulting other members they didn't know.

And yes calling you a jackass would be an insult, but I was not calling you one, just telling you not to be one Razz

You are correct that Schmidt should be listed. It must be a technical glich that is removing him from the listing. I will look into it and get it corrected, thanks for the heads up. Thumbs Up
