Following up from my post in September....lets see what 3 1/2 months and a new season brings. I'll have the 2nd waiver wire in my keeper league. What prospect should I be looking at and how long should I hold onto this priority number...I'm willing to hold it all season for the right guy. (Yahoo league)

Top canidates thus far:

Delmon Young
Lastings Milledge
Felix Pie
Stephen Drew
Chad Billingsly
Brandon Wood
Kendry Morales

What order do you put these guys in and who would you add? Keeping in mind they would have to be called up at some point this season.

Well if they have to be called up at some point this season then this is my order:

Young
Drew
Morales
Pie
Wood
Milledge
Billingsley

Just from a pure prospect stand point then my order would be:

Young
Wood
Milledge
Drew
Pie
Morales
Billingsley

You have Billingsley about 2 or 3 spots too low there IMO

I'd stick Jon Lester BOS right under Billingsley on your list. I expect him to come up sooner rather than later either by trade or an injury due to the age of that staff.

For what it's worth Luciani has Daric Barton OAK at the top of his '06 list, so you may want to slot him in somewhere.

I agree with jroche6, Pie is lower on a talent tree and lower on my list. Since I'm waiting for the best, I skip Pie (I've got the fourth spot on my league's waiver wire).

Young
Drew
Wood
Milledge
Billingsley
Lester
Barton
Pie (gut says no, everyone else says yes)

I'd say:

Young
Wood
Drew
Milledge
Billingsley
Barton
Lester
Pie

A name that is missing from your list that I would for sure add is

Justin Upton, Diamondbacks

He has signed now.
Probably won't see him until sometime in 07, but most (including me) have him very high.

I would put him right behind Delmon.

They are prospects, so they are a crap shoot, but if there were only two names I wanted to worry about, it would be Delmon Young and Justin Upton.

What is Arzonia's plan at SS. Will Drew or Upton be moved to a different position. They are both SS now, right? With 1B and 3B settled for the long term, will one of these guys switch to 2B?

So...what are the chances these guys make it up this year?

Young - 90%, gotta come up at some point but OF/DH is crowded!
Wood - 35%, if he tears up AAA like he has the other levels this past year, they have to bring him up...but SS is full with Cabrera.
Drew - 45%, needs to light it up this year to take Counsel's spot. With the signing of Hudson, I don't see him up this year.
Milledge - 35%, Floyd will miss some time but Nady and VDiaz would need to hit a wall for Milledge to see time.
Billingsley - 80%, seems to have a chance to be the 6th choice with a strong spring. Some missed time by Lowe, Penny, Odalis, Tomko or if Seo blows up...Billingsley could get the nod.
Barton - 20%, maybe in 2007 but doubtful to get called up this year.
Lester - 10%, no room in the stable for this kid. Barring a BoSox melt down with the staff, he shouldn't see time in 2006.
Pie - 50%, Injuries or Murton flaming out would need to occur for him to see the big leagues.
Morales - 60%, Angels didn't get the power through FA they were looking for. Kotchman and McPhearson are blocking his way but Angels seem to be souring on the oft injured McPearson.
Upton - 1%, may get a chance in 2007 but definitely not 2006.

The following are guys that should get a chance in spring to win a job...are they worth using the high priority pick for, or do I wait on one of the prospects listed above (or someone else?)

Barfield (SD)
Kinsler (Tex)
Johjima (Sea)
Bowyer (Fla)
Hansen (Bos)
Mathis (LAA)
Verlander (Det)

Another name to add to the prospect list is Howie Kendrick.

I like Young and Drew, but two more to keep an eye on are Andy LaRoche of the Dodgers and Anthony Reyes of the Cards, although Reyes has a chance to beat out Sidney Ponson for a fith starter spot.
