Ill be starting a Sportsline H2H Points based Dynasty League draft tomorrow, pitching and hitting point system is pretty evenly weighted. I have the 4th over all pick.

Assuming ARod, Pujols and Santana are taken, Ive been looking very hard at Chase Utley for my first pick... or possibly Peavy.

Any thoughts on the subject?

Oh we did have a 3 player minor league draft earlier (I had last pick) and I choose:

Justin Saltamaccha
Howie Kendrick
Yusmeiro Petit

Refer to other posts on here and take Miguel Cabrera. Seriously, do not take Utley over Cabrera.

HTH Points league, huh?! Thumbs Up My favorite format for the last two years. I love the bi-weekly action (in my home league we split the games M-Th and F-Sun) and how all the teams are into it no matter what place they are in and how there is that "luck" factor like in RL (real life) and...

Anyways, I have to wonder if Vlad won't go third. Santana may drop to you and then it becomes a choice of whether you want the best pitcher to anchor your staff or a less volatile position player who gives you steady daily production. Mark Teixeira would be my top choice for the fourth pick. I'd stay away from 2B as that position is just too deep and doesn't get the kind of PPG production a prototypical clean-up hitter does. Starting pitching is too deep and volatile for me to draft before round three, however the choice should probably be from the group of Santana, Guerrero, or Teixeira.

EDIT - Miguel Cabrera should also get consideration as twjtiger stated. How forgetful of me... I guess I'm buying into to all the hype about him not doing well on Marlins.

agreed. I'd take Tex, Vlad, or Miguel. Do not take Utley at 4.

twjtiger -- your pick isnt working. I had to change mine too, just thoguht I'd point it out.

thanks guys, I appreciate the input. That said, should Wright be a thought also as he is good for power and speed?

If you really believe I suppose so, but there isn't enough history there to make me pull that trigger.

Tex, Vlad or Santana at 4 no questions asked. Wright should go around 8-11, Miguel in same area.

Here is what I think the 1st round should look like (12 teams)
Quote:
Round 1
1. A-Rod
2. Pujols
3. Vlad
4. Tex
5. Johan
6. Big Papi
7. Miguel
8. Wright
9. Crawford
10. Manny
11. Bay
12. Mike Young

Just my thoguht ... I would love to hear others

Here's a different view for you blee

1. Albert Pujols 1B - for age, higher BA, and last year's steals
2. Alex Rodriguez 3B
3. Vladimir Guerrero OF
4. Mark Teixeira 1B - for age and park
5. David Ortiz 1B/DH
6. Miguel Cabrera 3B/OF
7. Michael Young SS - for age and position
8. Johan Santana SP - I just can't see taking pitching unless it's a deal
9. Jason Bay OF - there's more to come from the prime age OF who's on the rise
10. Bobby Abreu OF
11. Manny Ramirez OF
12. Todd Helton 1B - 2006 Comeback of the Year (if you can call it that)

Truthfully, Miguel Cabrera and Michael Young may not score as many points as the others on this list and Derek Lee should likely be on it.

Right now, Average draft position for a 5X5 mixed league is listed below:

1.6 Albert Pujols
1.6 Alex Rodriguez
3.3 Vladimir Guerrero
4.1 Mark Teixeira
5.9 Manny Ramirez
6.6 Miguel Cabrera
7.9 Derrek Lee
9.0 Johan Santana
9.5 Bobby Abreu
10.1 Miguel Tejada

Based on this, Teix is a good value.
As would be ManRam or Miggy.

Real need to look at what you want to build on since this is a dynasty league.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the top 10.
